Are Your Pillows Hazardous to Your Health? When you snuggle into bed at night and rest your weary head upon your dreamy pillow, are you risking your health? Perhaps, according to a perturbing new study from The University of Manchester, published in the journal Allergy, where researchers found that both synthetic and down pillows are full of dust mites and millions of fungal spores—and that in fact, they create a kind of miniature ecosystem inside our pillows. Proof that Merino Wool Does Not Itch Merino is soft as silk next to the skin because it is much finer than normal wool. This was confirmed in one test in which schoolchildren were given sweaters to wear made from wool fibres of varying diameters.
Most wool fibres have a diameter of 28µm or higher while diameters for Merino are generally around 22µm and extra-fine Merino must be 19.5µm or lower. The tests showed that with the finest Merino, nearly 100% of the children found no discomfort whatsoever. See the full report at Australian Wool Innovation.

Sleep Comfort Study Shows Wool is Superior Research conducted by The Woolmark Company and the University of Sydney has shown that under many conditions, people sleep better if their bedding products are made from wool. It has long been known that the moisture retention and wicking properties of wool help you to stay at a comfortable temperature, dry with less sweating and overheating. The study set out to establish a scientific link between the human body, bedding products and sleeper comfort. By testing a range of wool, polyester and down products in 12, 18 and 24°C environments
across a range of relative humidities,
researchers were able to establish a rating
of sleeper comfort. Wool generally scored higest in the tests. Visit Woolmark for more information.
